⚠️ Important Notice
This product is designed specifically for low-speed steering clicking and creaking noises associated with two-piece rotors. It is not a universal solution for all brake noises.
The Problem: Low-Speed Steering Clicking & Creaking on Two-Piece Rotors?
Are you hearing a rhythmic "clicking" or a low "creaking" sound from your front wheels when steering at low speeds? This is a common issue with two-piece rotors — affecting both floating and fixed designs.
The cause? Aluminum rotor hats and steel hubs have different friction properties. Under lateral load during a turn, the interface can micro-slip (clicking) or bind and release (creaking), generating that annoying noise. Our copper shims offer a simple, reversible fix for both.
Specifically Designed for Two-Piece Rotors with Factory Brake Setups
Our shims are engineered to address the exact contact-surface mismatch found in two-piece rotors — regardless of brand, size, floating or fixed. Perfect for vehicles running standard factory brake systems with two-piece rotor upgrades.
- Eliminates Both Clicking & Creaking: Targets the root cause — micro-slip and friction instability at the hub-to-hat interface.
- Designed for Factory Brake Setups: Works with standard calipers and stock brake systems (not limited to BBK).
- Preserve Original Geometry: 0.1/0.15mm thickness won't alter your wheel's offset or brake clearance.
- Reversible & Non-Destructive: No grinding, no drilling – just a simple, removable shim.
How It Works
Place the copper shim between the wheel mounting surface and the rotor hat. The soft copper deforms microscopically under pressure, increasing contact area and friction — stabilizing the interface and eliminating the micro-slip that causes clicking and creaking.
Copper Shim – Quick Guide
What is this for?
Stops clicking or creaking noise from two-piece rotors during low-speed turns.
How it works
Sits between the wheel hub and rotor hat. Stops the metal slip that causes the noise.
Installation
- Remove wheel
- Clean the hub mounting face and rotor hat contact surface — remove any rust, dirt, or debris
- Place the shim onto the hub surface
- Reinstall the rotor and wheel, torque to spec
Compatibility
- Two-piece rotors — both floating and fixed
- All vehicles equipped with two-piece rotors
